Brian Castelli, our Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, spent the end of October and beginning of November in Delhi, India. He was invited to speak at the Energy Efficient Buildings India Forum 2007 on Mainstreaming Green Buildings – Smart Policies and Best Practices. He also spoke at the first Plenary Session on Energy Efficient Pathways in the Building Sector – Policy and Regulation.
The conference was sponsored by the World Building Council on Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and United Technologies Corporation. It was a follow up conference on energy efficient buildings that Brian participated in with WBCSD and Dupont in Wilmington, DE earlier this fall. Mr. Castelli also met with Dr. RK Pachauri, the Director General of the Tata Energy Research Institute, and the Head of the International Panel on Climate Change. Dr. Pachauri will be in Oslo, Norway shortly to accept the Nobel Prize he is sharing for the IPCC’s climate work with former U.S. Vice-President Al Gore, who won his share of the prize for An Inconvenient Truth. After the conference ended, Brian flew to Bangalore where he toured the Alliance’s India office and met with the current staff there. He was briefed on their work in the Watergy area and he in turn briefed them on the other work that the Alliance is doing in the U.S. and other countries.
