This report summarizes the history of the New York Executives for Energy Efficiency program. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and the U.S. Department of Energy co-sponsored the development of a strategy to promote energy efficiency to business leaders. A steering committee of New York State government, business, and trade association leaders provided program guidance. A subsequent pilot program offered energy management assistance to interested companies. The total program experience provided many valuable lessons that should be considered when promoting industrial energy efficiency in the future. A companion document to this report, Executive Reactions to Energy Efficiency, presents additional research beyond the scope of the New York Executives for Energy Efficiency Program.
