Austin Energy (AE) is the nation’s 10th largest community-owned electric utility, serving more than 380,000 customers and a population of more than 880,000 within the City of Austin, Travis County and a small portion of Williamson County. As a city-owned electric utility company, AE returns profits to the community every year which helps fund several city services. AE powers the city with just over 2,900 megawatts (MW) of generating capacity which includes a mix of nuclear, coal, natural gas and renewable energy sources.

AE designed and developed the nation’s first green building program, has nationally recognized commercial and residential energy efficiency programs as well as the #1 green power program in the nation for sales five years running.
