  Objectives   Our mission is to promote and invest in clean and renewable energy technologies, energy conservation, energy efficiency and sustainable energy enterprises that provide opportunities and benefits for the West Penn Power ratepayers. Our investments promote the start-up, attraction, expansion and retention of sustainable energy businesses in the West Penn market region. Job creation and other local economic development impacts are an important component of our mission. A sustainable energy business is a business which designs, develops, manufactures, sells, installs or otherwise derives income from energy conservation, energy efficiency , renewable energy or clean energy.

  Eligible Projects/Technologies  

Renewable energy, clean energy, and energy conservation and efficiency technologies and businesses in the West Penn market region. Renewable energy includes energy produced from solar, wind, low-impact hydro, and sustainable biomass (agriculture to energy). Clean energy refers to advanced technologies (such as fuel cells) which use fossil fuels but which have significantly lower emissions and wastes than currently commercialized technologies and fuels that are derived from waste. Energy conservation and energy efficiency refers to green building design concepts, appliances and equipment, and communications and information technology.
