Organization Overview

Founded in 1977, the Alliance to Save Energy is a nonprofit coalition of energy leaders advocating for enhanced energy productivity to achieve economic growth, a cleaner environment, and greater energy equity, reliability, and affordability.

Position Description

The Strategic Initiatives Associate has primary responsibility for supporting implementation of the initiatives that serve the core mission of the Alliance to Save Energy. This position reports to the Director of Strategic Initiatives, and the Associate will work closely with teams across the organization and external stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute workplans for the implementation of the Alliance’s strategic initiatives, including but not limited to Active Efficiency and the organization’s newest initiative, Energy 2040
  • Support the Director of Strategic Initiatives in tracking work products and initiative-related activities
  • Support events staff for initiatives-related public engagements, including supplying information related to logistics and attending events
  • Coordinate with other Alliance teams engaged in Strategic Initiatives, including Communications, Research & Analysis, Policy, Events, Operations, and relevant subcontractors, to make sure timelines and deliverables are met
  • Maintain stakeholder tracking documents and draft, track and modify initiative workplans, creating new documents as needed
  • Develop knowledge of initiative stakeholders and their priorities, support the Director of Strategic Initiatives in ensuring work is responsive to their priorities
  • Manage meeting schedules, invites, supporting materials, and meeting minutes for initiatives and working groups
  • Produce white papers, research primers fact sheets, etc., to support the work of strategic initiative participants and working groups
  • Write posts for the Alliance blog as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to the Alliance’s goals around climate, energy equity, and/or other efficiency-related benefits
  • History of being a team player, working in close collaboration with others and jumping in to help when needed
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to tailor message and presentation style to specific audiences and contexts
  • Ability to independently prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proactive problem-solving, identifying and removing obstacles to success
  • Experience working with diverse people and groups
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Documents

Desired Qualifications

  • Interest in the energy field and/or climate change mitigation, and energy efficiency in particular
  • Experience working with a range of partners with different perspectives

Compensation

Salary is $47,500-$55,000 based on work history and skillset, with participation in the employee benefit plan of the Alliance which includes health, dental, and vision insurance as well as 401(k) matching.
