Mr. Kumar has more than 20 years of experience in the field of public and private sector energy efficiency (EE) and clean energy programs, EE policy advocacy, and climate change mitigation programs. His technical expertise includes design, development and implementation of EE programs in numerous sectors – including municipal buildings, building codes, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), water & wastewater operations, street lighting, EE procurement policies, and EE equipment and appliance policies and programs. He has experience carrying out training & capacity building, techno-economic feasibility studies, and design of performance-based contracting projects with energy service companies (ESCOs).
Mr. Kumar also is a recognized expert in measurement and verification (M&V) of energy and cost savings and has created replicable financing models for implementation of energy efficiency projects. He was instrumental in developing India’s first Super ESCO business plan for Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). He also has worked on designing and implementing renewable energy (solar thermal and photovoltaic) and waste energy management projects in the industrial and commercial sectors. Mr. Kumar has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a post graduate degree in Energy Engineering. He is a Certified M&V Professional (CMVP) by AEE, USA. Mr. Kumar served for twelve years at the Alliance to Save Energy India office, including as Director, and now acts as a senior advisor for International programs. He has been instrumental in providing strategic and technical advice to various government and international development agencies in India and internationally.
