New Edition of International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) Released to Public
Date: Feb 02, 2011
The Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO) announces the release of its 2010 International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP). The 2010 IPMVP is now available for free download on EVO’s site. This amended edition of the 2009 IPMVP Volume I (Concepts and Options for Determining Energy and Water Savings) continues to make the protocol more easily usable by a global audience by adding region-specific content and providing tools such as a technical unit conversion table.
These modifications further invite local customization of the IPMVP and demonstrate EVO’s interest in making it reflect local differences and special local resources. This practical example of “thinking globally and acting locally,” enhances the IPMVP’s value to the energy efficiency community worldwide. A few highlights of changes in the 2010 edition include the addition of sections for Romania and Bulgaria, and of sub-chapters to identify resources for broad regions, and added references to European and interantional standards.
Through the IPMVP, its flagship product, EVO has been assisting public and private decision-makers around the world for over a decade to measure and verify end use energy efficiency. In the 1990s, EVO developed standardized approaches to energy efficiency measurement and verification (M&V) to assist developers, owners and financiers of projects. Today, the IPMVP is the leading international Protocol in end user level M&V and is updated regularly as part of EVO’s continual effort to reflect best practices. The IPMVP has been translated into 11 languages and is used in more than 40 countries. It is now typically cited as good practice in numerous government and utility energy efficiency programs and emission trading regimes around the world, and as the basis for U.S. federal, state and utility M&V protocols. Other IPMVP Volumes and earlier editions are available in Brazilian, Catalan, Chinese, Czech, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish and Ukrainian. IPMVP Volumes may be downloaded at the EVO site, in the Products and Services, IPMVP Products section.
