EVO Trainings:
Kicking It Up A Notch - M&V for Educators and Experts

To help move the basic methods in its flagship product, the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP), into real applications, the Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO) provides training at various levels for a variety of audiences. We draw on the expertise and experience within EVO around the world to provide M&V training tailored to the needs of different regions where no other suitable training is available.

A key highlight of the past fiscal year (July 2009 – June 2010) was the rapid growth of EVO’s M&V training program and the Certified Measurement and Verification Professionals (CMVP) certification program. By investing in promoting and running training under the EVO name in regions where no local host could be identified, the organization was able to:
• Roughly double the exposure of our training materials, now reaching about 600 people through 21 sessions around the world (4 in USA, 6 in Canada, 3 in France, 2 in each of Spain and India, 1 in each of China, Portugal, Germany, and Bulgaria - most were CMVP preparation courses); and
• Increase the number of CMVPs to 825 (a 50 percent increase), spanning 19 countries (335 in the USA, 235 in Canada, 111 in Europe, 63 in South Africa and 50 in China. There were a total of 781 CMVPs and 44 CMVPs-in-training at the end of the fiscal year, we now estimate that there are currently about 1,000 CMVPs).

M&V for Educators and Experts
Many CMVPs have shown interest in advanced training. EVO’s Mission to promote good M&V includes helping people go beyond its basics. So, EVO is now offering its internal trainer development program to the public. Anyone can now benefit from more advanced understanding of M&V topics. We are starting the advanced training program gradually.

EVO will hold its first two public comprehensive three-day M&V for Educators and Experts training course in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, February 2-4 and February 8-10, 2011. The course offer advanced information for those seeking to be M&V experts and/or EVO educators, and is designed as an intimate (maximum 10 students) experience, built around case studies and advanced topics in measurement, data logging and statistics. The first public session offered (February 2-4) was so well subscribed that we added a second (February 8-10), and it too is fully subscribed. For more information and future plans write to evo.central@evo-world.org.

Beyond continuation of M&V training in the many countries where we are now active, plans are also developing for training in Australia and New Zealand. Watch the EVO site for news of events not yet scheduled, or contact us at evo.central@evo-world.org if you are interested in training in your area.

Financier Training
EVO is supporting a European Commission project to encourage investment in energy efficiency in Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia. This project, known as PERMANENT, will raise awareness among senior financiers of the merits of energy efficiency projects for their clients, and the collateral value of a well-documented savings stream at a credit-worthy host. Awareness presentations and 2-3 hour introductory training sessions have been customized from EVO’s core materials, in five languages with local partners. Details of these events will be announced on the EVO and PERMANENT sites as they are scheduled. Also part of this project is separate training on M&V.
